Rod Bax is an established Australian artist with a professional career spanning more than 50 years. Working across multiple mediums, he is particularly celebrated for his gouache and watercolour depictions of the wetland regions in South Australia’s south east. A multiple-time finalist in the prestigious Waterhouse Natural History Prize, Bax’s practice consistently reflects his deep concern for and commitment to the preservation of the natural world.
He studied at the South Australian School of Art and the East Sydney Technical College and is a Fellow of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts. Bax was also a director of the Southern School of Art. As an educator, he has held significant positions including Head of Art at St Peter’s College and Westminster School in Adelaide.
